Unlock 2.0 deadline will be over on July 31Industry body Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) on Thursday wrote to the home ministry asking the government to resume flight travel, metro services and tourism.
FICCI also said that targeted marketing campaigns should be undertaken by the states to communicate safety measures like wearing masks, thermal check up and restriction on number of people at one spot.According to experts, the tourism industry has already witnessed the loss of 20-30 million jobs and thus needs to be supported.
Speaking to TheIndianSubcontinent, chairman of tourism council of ASSOCHAM Subhash Goyal said that the mandatory quarantine period for inter-state travel is proving to be problematic."Tourism will take some time to kickstart as long as the quarantine protocols are in place.
I am hopeful that if the quarantine problem is removed, the industry should start limping back to normalcy," Mr Goyal said. The Unlock 2.0 period gets over on July 31 and the government has already listed guidelines for Unlock 3.0, under which night curfew has been lifted and private gyms and yoga centres have been allowed to open.
